Italy's deputy transport minister says the number of victims in the Genoa highway bridge collapse has risen to at least 22 dead and 8 injured.
He says at least 20 vehicles were on the bridge when it collapsed and people in buildings below the bridge were also impacted.
Authorities suspect a structural weakness caused an 80 metre section of the bridge to fall.
Sniffer dogs and heavy equipment have been brought in to aid in the search for victims.
