Deputy Fire Chief Dave Upper says crews have been rotating throughout the night, and a fresh group of firefighters are ready to tackle what remains of yesterday's massive blaze.
Upper says in 28 years with the fire service in St. Catharines, this is the biggest fire he's ever seen.
The fire was made worse in part by a recent delivery of 500,000 flower crates along with wooden palates located at the back of the greenhouse.
Complicating matter further, fire crews were unable to access a million gallon reservoir of water on site that was blocked by the collapse of the first building.
The Ministry of the Environment was on hand yesterday monitoring air quality and is expected to do the same today.
Upper says at this time a shelter in place is still in effect, however he fully anticipates that will be lifted shortly.
The Deputy Fire Chief is applauding a solid team effort which included 37 vehicles and help from Lincoln, Pelham, Fort Erie, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake crews.
Fire Marshall investigators on scene but heave not even begun to look into the cause of the fire as the focus right now is getting the last few hotspots under control.
