Less than a month after the U-S State Department warned of possible holiday attacks at gathering places in Europe, 12 people are dead in Berlin after a large truck rammed into a crowded Christmas market.
Nearly 50 others were injured in the attack outside a church.
Police say the driver purposely drove into the crowd of locals and tourists, and terrorism is suspected.
A suspect is in custody, while the truck's passenger, a Polish national, is dead.
The truck's owner, also Polish, says he feared the truck was hijacked.
