A woman is dead and a 23 year old is facing charges following a hit and run in Niagara Falls.
It happened last night around 8:40 p.m. in the area of Lundy's Lane and Beaverdams Road.
Niagara Regional Police say the woman was struck by a vehicle which then fled the scene and the victim rushed to an out of town hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police managed to locate a 2013 black Mercedes believed to have been involved in the accident and have now arrested a Niagara Falls man in connection to the incident.
John Alexander Gawronski is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
He's being held in custody pending a video bail hearing today in Hamilton.
The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call police.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
