Heavy smoke wafting across our Southern Tier this morning from a massive industrial blaze in Port Colborne.
Fire crews from across the region responding to the six alarm blaze on Barber Green Drive at Concession 2 at the Vinyl Works Canada plant.
We have an unconfirmed report the 300 square foot building has collapsed as firefighters continue to battle the stubborn blaze.
@OntarioHazards tweeting out the heavy smoke is showing up on radar this morning.
A witness at the scene says nearby residents have been asked to leave or at the very least keep doors and windows closed because of the toxic cloud and stay inside.
According to the official Twitter account for the town of Fort Erie, an air sample taken from the perimeter of the town is testing negative for toxic chemicals, but residents are still being encouraged to stay inside.
NRP have road blocks at Second Concession and Hwy 140 and Barber and Main Street.
No word on the cause of the fire or any injuries.
