A Husky dog that attacked a St. Catharines boy has been seized by officials.
Kevin Strooband with the Lincoln County Humane Society joining CKTB with an update on the case saying he received a warrant to seize the dog last night from its owner.
The dog is now in the custody of officials at Niagara Region Animal Services headquarters.
Strooband says the process to get the dog declared dangerous has started.
Strooband says there are two results in cases like this, which include the dog being euthanized, or stricter controls issued for its owner.
A court date has been set in July for the dog owner.
The owner has been ticketed for allowing it to run off leash.
Stooband says there is a problem in relation to this case and they have a duty to protect the public.
The attack happened Tuesday night when 10 year Phillip Bowden was attacked by the husky while playing with friends on a trail near Centennial park.
He suffered significant injuries and is recovering at home.
His father says Phillip is not only recovering from physical injuries, but also the trauma of the attack.
Phillip has suffered from night terrors.
