Published reports are identifying a man in a photo police have released showing the person they allege was responsible for throwing a beer can on the field during the Toronto Blue Jays playoff game with the Baltimore Orioles.
The published reports say the man in the photo is Ken Pagan of Hamilton.
The Toronto Sun, which said Pagan was an employee of Postmedia and formerly of Sun Media, reported it had spoken with Pagan and that he suggested the police may not have it right, saying he was ``drinking out of a cup.''
The newspaper, owned by Postmedia, also reported he suggested that pictures posted on Twitter after the can was tossed indicate he had a cup in his hand.
Police said they were investigating the Tuesday night incident at Rogers Centre and on Wednesday evening they released a photo of a man they alleged was responsible, urging him to turn himself in.
The Canadian Press was unable to contact Pagan by phone or email on Wednesday night, and Toronto police said they could not comment on the reports that Pagan is the man in the photo.
The Toronto Blue Jays expressed ``extreme disappointment'' and vowed to tighten their security and alcohol policies after a spectator hurled a beer can at a Baltimore outfielder during Tuesday's dramatic playoff game between the team and the Orioles.
The Sun reported Pagan hadn't been charged with anything, but had spoken with police and made arrangements to turn himself in.
