The Mayor of St.Catharines says the state of Sunset beach's washrooms is unacceptable.
Walter Sendzik tells CKTB the beach has grown in popularity due to the flooding in Port Dalhousie and the fact the beach has a boat ramp.
He says even though more people are using the beach, that doesn't excuse the state of the facilities.
He says he understands people are frustrated with the two tiny stalls.
A resident sent the Mayor a letter saying the washrooms were so dirty over the weekend that people were going to the bathroom behind the washrooms building.
Sendzik says new accessible washrooms including change rooms, showers and more stalls are part of the city's future plans for the Port Weller beach.
He says the new facility will be one that residents will be proud of.
Until then the Mayor is promising the washrooms will be cleaned more often.
