As the search for a 27 year old man wanted in connection with an attack on a woman earlier this week in Niagara Falls continues, Niagara police issuing a statement on Facebook reminding residents to think about the comments they post on the page.
The statement reads while police would like to thank the public for their interest in the case, they want to remind people who write comments that real people are involved in this traumatic incident with families and desire some level of privacy.
Police say they can not allow comments that violate that privacy or compromise the integrity of the police investigation.
The NRP noting rumours and misinformation only serve to complicate the matter.
They ask commentors who feel the need to get answers to send direct messages of read the media releases.
Police add posts or comments, providing or asking for information , that they have not released may be subject to being deleted.
Yesterday police released new images of the suspect Joseph Caliguiri and new details into the case.
They also are asking the public for help with any video they may have following the attack on the victim Monday afternoon in the area of the Chippawa Boat Ramp Park, as well an area around Lyons Creek and Sodom Roads.
The victim was attacked with a knife and remains in critical condition in an out of town hospital.
Police also want to reassure the public this was not a random attack, it's believed the two knew each other.
