Around 1,000 green-clad Brock University students flooded Jacobson Ave in St. Catharines to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
A portion of the street was completely blocked by students between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon.
During the course of the day Niagara Regional Police handed out 20 Provincial Offence Notices for open liquor, public intoxication, littering, and being a participant in a nuisance party as some students climbed onto rooftops.
One arrest was made for intoxication in a public place.
Constable Phil Gavin tells CKTB police are still reviewing the events of the day to determine if more charges should be laid.
Residents of the area and students have clashed for years over the annual raucous party and the aftermath of beer bottles and cans left behind.
Brock students and staff made the rounds yesterday afternoon and this morning to clean up any remaining litter in the neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Thorold is applauding Brock University for the work that went in to preparing for St. Patrick's Day.
Terry Ugulini says the school, the city, and police worked together to keep things in check.
"The community and the students in Thorold were respectful. We had some parties along Winterberry but they were contained to residences. No disturbances on the street."
