A man has died after a vehicle crashed into the Welland Canal near the Allanburg Bridge.
Niagara Regional Police say they located the man's body in the water around 8:30 a.m. this morning.
They believe he was driving the car.
Officers were initially called to the Service Road West and Regional Road 20 area around 1 a.m. this morning.
When emergency crews arrived a 28 year old woman was trapped in the vehicle,
She was able to get out and swim to shore, but there was no sign of the driver.
The woman has been airlifted to an out-of-town hospital with critical injuries.
