UPDATE | Power is back on for 900 customers in St. Catharines

The special weather statement continues this evening in Niagara.

The special weather statement warning of excessive heat continues this evening in Niagara.

Right now the humidex is around 38 degrees celcius, which is 100 degrees farenheit.

The excessive heat means air conditioners have been running in excess today and some residents were out their AC units following a power outage in South St. Catharines impacting 900 customers.

The areas that were affected included Vansickle Road to Highway 406 from Rykert Street to Lockhard Drive.

Alectra utilties say power was restored by 7:30pm.
