Update: The severe thunderstorm warning has now been lifted.
Environment Canada has upgraded it's severe thunderstorm watch to a warning for Niagara Falls and south Niagara.
Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.
A few storms moving northeastward from Lake Erie may produce wind gusts to 90 km/h and hail up to 2 cm in diameter over the next hour.
The weather office warning to take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for St. Catharines and North Niagara.
