The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death last night of a 19-year-old man in St. Catharines.
In a release, the police watchdog says 911 received a call around 7:30 last night about a man in distress
An NRP officer located the man on the Burgoyne Bridge.
After a brief interaction between the officer and the teen, the 19 year old went over the bridge and landed on the Highway 406 below.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SIU has assigned two investigators and two forensic investigators to the case.
A post-mortem is scheduled for today.
