Toronto police have now labelled the deaths of Barry Sherman and his wife Honey as homicides.
The couple, in their 70s, were found dead in their north end home in mid-December.
Autopsy results reveal they died by ``ligature neck compression.''
Police classified the deaths as ``suspicious'' but said little else.
The family, upset by media reports on the investigation, have hired their own investigators.
Today, Toronto Police say they have ruled the deaths as homicides, but so far they have not released any suspects or a motive.
They have an extensive list of people they are looking to talk to.
Police believe they were targeted.
75 year old Sherman was a billionaire philanthropist who founded the company Apotex.
Over the noon hour today the President and CEO of Apotex announced his resignation.
Officials say Jeremy Desai will pursue other opportunities.
