The Ministry of Transport sending out a notice at 3:00 this morning, the Thorold Tunnel has been reopened to traffic.
The tunnel was the scene of a truck fire that sent drivers fleeing from their cars yesterday afternoon to escape the billowing smoke.
A truck caught fire in the tube forcing police to close lanes in both directions just before 3:00 pm.
EMS telling the Niagara Falls Review several people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and one firefighter was taken to hospital in stable condition.
The Niagara Falls bound lanes of the tunnel have been closed for construction for several months and two way traffic is being diverted into the St. Catharines bound side of the tunnel.
