An update on a story we brought you last week about a Welland man worried for his life while waiting for brain surgery.
59 year old Dean Baker went public with his story after being told he would need to wait 6 months for life-saving surgery to remove a golf-ball sized tumour from his brain.
He became more concerned when his symptoms, including seizures and memory loss, started to worsen.
Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch sent an urgent letter to Ontario's Health Minister and the President of Hamilton Health last week.
Yesterday, Baker received a call from his neurosurgeon saying his surgery will now take place August 27th.
Baker says he’s shocked it’s happened so fast but he is really feeling guilty that 50 other people are also waiting for brain surgery by this doctor.
Baker, a retired Bell employee, has two children in their 40's and three grandchildren.
