A vigil will be held in St. Catharines to share grief, anger, and make a call for change after a 22 year old Cree man was shot dead on a Saskatchewan farm.
On Friday, a jury that appeared to have no Indigenous members found 56 year old Gerald Stanley not guilty of second degree murder in the death of Colten Boushie.
In response, the Indigenous Community of Niagara and members of the Niagara Anti-Racism Coalition will gather outside St. Catharines City Hall at 6:30 tonight.
Organizers of the vigil call the jury's findings 'a blatant miscarriage of justice.'
Meanwhile in Ottawa, Boushie family has met with Indigenous Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennet, Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould, and Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale.
Wilson-Raybould says the government is taking a closer look at the jury selection process.
