Once again, it looks like the city of St. Catharines is at the bottom when it comes to voter turnout.
Only 33.6% of eligible voters in the city made it out to the polls for the municipal election. During the 2014 election, 34.3% of voters cast a ballot.
Walter Sendzik has been elected to spend another term as mayor, and says one of the excuses he heard yesterday was that people were just too busy to vote.
"I think we're going to look at, the next term of council, seeing if we can move toward online voting where maybe it gives people an opportunity where, yeah, they are busy but they can still hit a button on a computer and say, 'I voted.'"
Niagara-on-the-Lake is reporting the highest voter turnout at 58.7%.
Around the region the number stands at about 40% down from 41%.
Voter turnout numbers were not immediately available for Pelham, Port Colborne, Grimsby, West Lincoln, or Wainfleet this morning.
