A St. Catharines family from Jamaica, facing deportation, did not appear before a Canada Border Services Agency hearing on Tuesday, even though they went prepared to continue their fight to stay in the country.
Their immigration lawyer tells Post Media, he doesn't know why, but he's hoping its good news.
Instead, the daughter of Natasha Gordon-Jones, who is married to a Canadian, was called in to discuss her immigration status.
Gordon-Jones and her three children have been fighting a deportation order, after their application for refugee status was denied.
The widowed mother has argued sending her and her family back to Jamaica could endanger their lives.
The family fled to Canada after her husband was murdered six years ago for refusing to pay extortion money to a gang.
