The District School Board of Niagara has submitted three plans to the Ontario government for kids to return to school in September.
DSBN Chair Sue Barnett tells CKTB the three options are virtual/online learning full-time, a mix of in-person and online, and a full-time in-person routine with extra health and safety protocols.
She says the mix of online and in-person learning will include a child attending school a few days a week.
Barnett is hopeful the government will make a decision this week.
The DSBN is preparing for in-school learning by stocking up on PPE, hiring additional staff, and working on age appropriate signage.
She says the main issue is that the protocols are not yet funded.
She says the decision of which model they move forward on will be made by the government, the Ministry of Education, Ontario Public Health and Niagara Public Health.
