A re-energized Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, helped Gillian's Place surpass its fundraising goal this weekend.
Organizors say the annual event at the Pen Centre brought in $90 thousand, $10 thousand more than their goal.
More than two hundred men put on high heels and walked a mile around the mall to raise money for abused women and their children who seek temporary shelter and support programs offered by Gillian's Place in St. Catharines.
Last year, organizors became concerned after they fell short of their fundraising target but they say this year they benefited from some new big teams who walked the walk to raise money and awareness in the fight to stop violence against women.
