CKTB News being advised by a local resident who fears he may have fallen prey to the latest scam, called the "Can You Hear Me?" scam.
Here's how it works, you receive a recorded call from someone identifying themselves as a business or agency, next they ask if you can hear them?
If you say yes there's a possibility the scam artist behind the call has recorded you and will use your agreement to sign you up for a product or service and then demand payment.
If you refuse, the caller may produce your recorded yes to confirm the purchase agreement.
Police in the U-S issued warnings about the scam earlier this year.
The U-S Consumer Protection Federation has some simple advise, while you may think its impolite to hang up, your best bet is to do just that.
