It may be a common sight in Florida, but not in Hamilton, after a local family spotted an alligator sunning itself beside their home.
Walter Ertsinian telling the Spec his two daughters, 11 and 18, had just got out of the pool of their home on Webster Road yesterday when they spotted the five foot reptile.
After calling 911, Ertsinian quickly built a makeshift barrier around the animal to keep it from wandering away.
Animal control quickly caught the gator using a snare.
It's not known who owns the animal but it is prohibited under the city's animal control bylaw.
