A couple hundred people turned out to protest the cutting of trees at an old estate on John Street in Niagara on the Lake.
The Randwood estate is being developed by Benny Marotta of Two Sisters resorts and Solmar homes.
Local residents have been fighting a planned development of the old property and became incensed when the developer began clear cutting trees on the property earlier this month.
The development includes the addition of a six storey hotel along with a subdivison.
Irene Bader, with the group SORE or Save Our Rand Estate, tells CKTB News in an email that this is a developing story against a developer who comes into " The prettiest town in Canada" and thinks he can clear cut and bully his way to erect a 6 to 7 story hotel on the most culturally sensitive Dunnigton Grubb landscape in the province.
