The shipping season on the Welland Canal will kick off early this year, thanks to our unseasonably warm winter.

The shipping season on the Welland Canal will kick off early this year, thanks to our unseasonably warm winter.

The canal system will open March 20th, tying a record set in 2007 for the earliest opening date.

The season will begin with a top hat ceremony in St. Catharines.

Last year was also a record setter,  tieing the record for the longest navigation season, at 286 days.
