Welland firefighters made fast work of an apartment fire on Fraser Street this morning.
The blaze was confined to one room, but it was visible from outside the building as firefighters brought it under control.
Firefighters removed two people from the building who were suffering minor injuries from smoke inhalation.
Welland Deputy Fire Chief Adam Eckhart says a smoke alarm alerted the residents to the fire.
The damage estimate comes in at $10,000.
The fire is now under investigation by the Welland Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshal's office is attending the site.
