Welland's MPP is trying to strengthen regulations surrounding Supportive Living Accommodations.
MPP Cindy Forster will be discussing the proposed legislation, Bill 135, during a special forum at the St. Catharines Library on Wednesday, February 14th.
The bill introduced by Forster would require provincially issued licenses for privately owned Supportive Living Homes in an effort to protect the vulnerable people living there.
The St. Catharines Standard reports stories of bed bugs and food shortages in group homes across the province prompted Forster's bill.
The forum, hosted by Niagara District Council of Women, will start at 8 p.m. tomorrow night in the St. Catharines library Mills Room. Noel Schoen of Justice Niagara is also expected to speak.
