The City of Welland says one of their transit drivers was not tested for COVID-19, despite a newspaper article saying someone had been.
In a release, the city of Welland says they investigated the situation with Human Resources and Transit management to find out what happened.
Here's what they say happened:
On Tuesday, a driver contacted Welland Transit, as well as Human Resources, saying that they were experiencing cold/flu like symptoms,
They were advised by Public Health to go to the Welland Hospital.
Medical staff asked the individual questions as part of a COVID-19 assessment and they felt the individual didn’t exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms and therefore a COVID-19 test was not done.
This person told their Transit Supervisor that they were tested for COVID-19, which the city says in untrue.
The employee remains at home.
