Victoria Day will be different this year amid COVID-19, but as a statutory holiday, some facilities will be closed.
As of today, Regional naturalization sites and leash-free dog parks will reopen. Residents are reminded to keep a physical distance of two metres from others. Use is at your own risk, as the Niagara Region isn't disinfecting the sites.
Restrictions have been removed at Region landfills/drop-off depots but residents should only use sites if necessary.
You should expect longer than usual wait times to comply with physical distancing on drop-off pads due to COVID-19. The preferred method of payment is debit/credit with tap option.
There are no changes to curbside garbage, recycling or organics collection due to the holiday.
Niagara Region Transit and Niagara Specialized Transit will not be operating on Monday, May 18.
While the Premier has announced golf courses can begin to reopen Saturday, best to call your course of choice first, as many are staggering openings to ensure proper safety measures are in place.
The Beer Store and LCBO say all of their locations will be closed on Victoria Day.
As for grocery stores, many are closed Monday, while others may be offering holiday hours. Call ahead or check online before going out.
