A wind warning has been issued for Niagara, however it looks like we will avoid a major dumping of snow.
Environment Canada says strong southwesterly winds will impact Niagara tomorrow morning, into the evening.
Wind gusts of up to 100 km/hr are expected.
Exposed areas near Lake Erie will see the strongest wind gusts up to 100 km/h while gusts inland are expected to be in the 80 to 90 km/h range.
"Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds."
A major winter storm is headed into some parts of Ontario this weekend.
Environment Canada has placed large parts of Ontario under a winter storm warning, with up to 30 centimetres forecasted around Sudbury, 25 centimetres around Ottawa.
Here in Niagara, we may get 2 centimetres of snow tonight, before it turns into rain. We will also get 2 cm of snow tomorrow morning along with those strong winds.
Now across the border in Buffalo, a winter storm warning has been issued with strong winds and heavy lake-effect snow hitting Western New York this weekend with possible blizzard conditions.
The warning is for 10 a.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Monday for Erie, Genesee and Wyoming counties.
1-3 feet of snow is expected to accumulate where the most persistent lake-snow bands fall.
