In the words of IceDogs head coach Billy Burke, "you can't just show up and expect to win". Niagara was out-skated, outworked and out-chanced in a 5-2 loss to visiting Sudbury.
The Wolves got the scoring underway before the game was a minute old. Ben Jones got the Dogs even at 4:24 with his second of the season, on the power-play, with assists to Akil Thomas and Johnny Corneil. Sudbury would go ahead to stay 67 second later, as the first period ended 2-1, with Sudbury holding the edge in shots 10-8.
In the second, it was all Wolves with three unanswered goals as the visitors again held a 10-9 shots advantage.
Colton Incze took over for Stephen Dhillon in the third and blocked all 10 Sudbury shots. Rookie Andrew Bruder netted his first ever OHL goal on the home team's 10th shot with under 18 seconds left.
To make a three in three weekend even tougher, the Dogs will now be without Kirill Maksimov for the next two games, after he was assessed a slew foot penalty in the third.
