A Burlington woman is in custody facing charges this weekend after Halton Region police say three of their cruisers were damaged during a hair-raising pursuit.
Police say the chase began after officers responded to a report of an impaired driver in Burlington. They say the suspect vehicle was located, but the driver refused to pull over.
Police say the pursuing officers managed to box in the vehicle on Guelph Line and were trying to extract the driver when she stepped on the gas and they had to let her go.
They say officers caught up with the vehicle again on the Q-E-W and attempted a rolling block but the driver started ramming their cruisers and the pursuit was called off. Police say no one was hurt, however, three of their vehicles were damaged.
Investigators say the suspect car was later found abandoned across the road from an inn where the driver had booked a room, and was arrested.
Police say 52-year-old Arlene Noel is being held for a bail hearing on charges of flight from police, fail to remain and dangerous driving.
