A woman is receiving the final dose of anti-rabies vaccine after being bitten by a dog in St. Catharines.
Post Media reports 60 year old Lynda Sellen was on her way to a convenience store at the corner of Lakeport and Linwell on August 11th when she came across a woman and two young boys walking a dog.
As one of the boys approached her, Sellen waved, and the dog lunged, sinking its teeth into Sellen's leg.
Sellen told the paper she limped into the nearby store to borrow a pen and paper to write down the dog owner's information, but by the time she returned the owner had disappeared.
Although Sellen's family reached out to vets and the Lincoln County Humane Society they couldn't find the owner of the dog to confirm the dog's vaccination history.
This meant Sellen had to begin precautionary treatment for rabies, which is fatal if it takes hold.
Sellen describes the dog as large, with dark reddish fur and dark markings. She told Post Media it was 'almost like a pitbull.'
