The Fort Erie Racetrack's 120th season has come to an end.
Track officials says despite a wet summer, attendance was consistent compared to previous years and on track wagering this fall increased.
Chief Operating Officer Tom Valiquette says they did face some challenges this season mainly due to a policy introduced by Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.
Woodbine implemented a policy that any horses stabled there could only race at another track twice a season, unless the race had a purse over $20,000.
Valiquette says the policy had a significant impact on their field sizes and their wagering, with their three biggest days of the year, opening day, Father's day and the Prince of Wales Stakes, taking a hit.
