Passionate residents are voicing their concerns over the Port Colborne Quarry's future.
There is a proposal to fill a portion of the quarry with construction materials.
The Quarry, located on Highway 140, is owned by a division of the Rankin Construction company.
A public meeting was held last night with some residents saying they are worried about what will be used to fill the quarry.
Local resident and city councillor Harry Wells tells CKTB his concern is that the ground water and soil will become contaminated by the fill.
Wells would rather see the town turn the quarry back into a 'recreational lake' filled with water.
The issue may come up at council on May 13th.
Wells lives near the quarry and has declared a conflict of interest since the future of the Quarry may impact his home's value.
