The president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union is suspicious about the latest contract extension being offered to more than 35,000 public servants by the government of Liberal Premier Kathleen Wynne.
Warren (Smokey) Thomas suspects the offer is about keeping labour peace ahead of next year's election.
He describes the government's proposed 7.5 per cent raise over four years as ``unprecedented,'' and adds it includes a number of positive changes with no demands of concessions.
Premier Wynne disputes any election link, saying now that her government has balanced its budget, workers are in line for some increases.
