Five finalists from Ontario are among the 17 people still in the running to become Canada's next two astronauts.
Science and Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains was in Toronto today to announce the candidates who will undergo the last rounds of assessments as part of the Canadian Space Agency competition.
There are 12 men and five women remaining, roughly reflecting the ratio of men to women who applied to the program in a process that began last year.
In addition to the five finalists from Ontario, four are from Alberta, three from Quebec and one each from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, B-C and Manitoba.
One candidate, Jesse Zroback, is American-born but now lives in Ontario.
