A bail hearing continues today in a Hamilton court for a 22 year old Ancaster man accused of hacking millions of Yahoo email accounts.
Last week, court heard from the parents of Karim Baratov who told the court they would be willing to put up all the equity in their home, $845,000, plus $10,000 in savings for their son’s bail.
The Crown however argues that Baratov is a flight risk, given the amount of disposable income he has and his alleged ties to Russia, which has no extradition treaty with the US
Baratov and three others, two of them alleged Russian security agents, have been charged by U-S officials with computer hacking, economic espionage and other criminal offences.
Baratov wants to be released on bail pending an extradition hearing to the US.
