Questions remain as to how to keep students, teachers and other staff members safe as schools re-open this week amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam says while Canada has been doing fairly well in terms of containing the virus, in recent days the average daily case count has been increasing.
She says that is a reflection of what is happening in the community.
Tam says the next two weeks will be critical in learning how school reopening plans have gone.
Tam says people can't be complacent about COVID-19, and need to keep up with key public health measures like frequent hand-washing, wearing a mask and physical distancing.
