Hamilton city council has voted in favour of asking that a judicial inquiry be held into the hidden Red Hill Valley Parkway friction report.
After a long night of debate, council voted 14-2 to request the probe which if approved will be headed by a Superior Court judge and will include public hearings and witness testimony.
The move comes after council discovered last month that a friction test done in 2013 was buried for five years.
Those tests revealed the friction levels on the highway's asphalt are below standard.
